Eco Church

The church has an Eco Group which is made up of people who believe that God wants us to love our global neighbour as well as be good stewards of his creation.

Our aims:

1 Reduce church building(s) CO2e footprint;

2 Place eco awareness at the forefront of preaching and worship;

3 Inform & encourage individual members of the congregation to reduce their own CO2e footprints and enhance our local biodiversity.

Church Eco Team and Friends with the newly planted silver birch

We are an Eco-Church!

We have recently won an A Rocha Eco Church Silver award. We celebrated this with the planting of a silver birch tree, which also commemorated the 25th anniversary of Church on the Heath.

We installed solar panels in August 2023 and have a plan to reduce the building's carbon footprint, starting with replacing the old lights with LEDs. We are part of the Net Zero Pioneer church programme in the Diocese of Guildford, working with other local churches.

We opened a Green Energy Fund in 2022 when we started our solar panel project and are now raising money for the next steps in our eco journey. If you’d like to donate please use the church bank account BACS transfer details (on the website under Connect > Give > Ways To Give > Online Banking) and put 'EcoChurch' in the reference. We'll make sure the funds are allocated accordingly. Please also drop a note to treasurer@churchontheheath.org.uk, and confirm when a gift can be gift aided.

Any questions, please contact eco@churchontheheath.org.uk or the church office.
