Eco Church
The church has an Eco Group which is made up of people who believe that God wants us to love our global neighbour as well as be good stewards of his creation.
We are part of the Net Zero Pioneer church programme in the Diocese of Guildford, working with other local churches.
Our aims:
1. Reduce church building(s) CO2e footprint;
2. Place eco awareness at the forefront of preaching and worship;
3. Inform & encourage individual members of the congregation to reduce their own CO2e footprints and enhance our local biodiversity.
The Eco Team celebrated winning the Eco Church silver award by planting a silver birch tree, which also commemorated the 25th anniversary of Church on the Heath.
Eco-Church Milestones
2025 - The church achieved the A Rocha Eco Church Silver award;
2024 - Installation of three Swift bird boxes;
2023 - The church installed solar panels and developed a plan to reduce the building's carbon footprint, starting with replacing the old lights with LEDs;
2022 - The church opened a Green Energy Fund.
