Series : The Church of Tomorrow - Being a Christ centred people in a changing world

Throughout its two-thousand year history, the church has successfully adapted to new contexts and cultures. But then, roughly every five hundred years it goes through something that feels like a revolution, where God turns everything we have been familiar with upside down. From the fall of the Roman Empire in the fifth century, to the split between the Eastern and Western churches in 1054 , followed by the Reformation in 1517 - these seismic shifts have set the church in a new direction. In his book ‘The Church of Tomorrow’, author and church-planter John McGinley suggests that the next tectonic shift could be upon us now. As the established churches, particularly in Europe, lose their influence in society and the number of worshippers dwindles, is God about to birth something new - a new expression of church that will replace what has been the norm for the past few hundred years? This series looks at six characteristics of tomorrow’s church that will enable it to serve God faithfully in a world that will be different to the world of today.
